about Me

So… What Is The Mane Compass?

(Ignore me aggressively inhaling my lunch, I’m trying to show you my stretched-out, over-moisturized curls in the back.)

Who I Am & Why This Exists

Before I Ever Cared About Ingredients or Hair Science…

I was someone who was completely stuck with her own hair…
multiple times, trying to fix my hair.
I deep conditioned. I moisturized. I did everything “right”
and still ended up with mushy, tired curls from over-moisturization.

When I finally understood what happened, I wrote about it.
Thousands of people, especially curly and coily girls said:
“Finally, someone explained what I’m dealing with.”
As my blog The Mestiza Muse grew, something unexpected happened…

My inbox flooded with messages from straight and fine-haired people:
“What about us?”
“Why doesn’t anyone explain our issues?”
“I have buildup and breakage too… so where do I go?”
“Is there a guide for hair that looks healthy but isn’t?”
They deserved real answers too.
Everyone does.
And just to be clear, curls can be straightened too.
I love wearing my hair straight from time to time. It doesn’t have to mean damage or going “back” to anything.
Hair can be versatile and healthy, if you understand what it needs before and after heat.

So, I built something new.
And that’s when this mission became bigger than curls. That’s how The Mane Compass was born.

(Same girl. Different vibe. Healthy hair should give you options.)

Why I Created The Mane Compass

Hair care shouldn’t feel like a guessing game.
Or a members-only club.
Or something you have to “qualify” for because of your curl pattern.

  • Science replaces confusion
  • Every texture is included
  • Progress makes sense
  • You don’t have to figure this out alone
(Same girl. Damage gone → definition restored → Color? Because color doesn’t have to mean chaos!)

What Makes This Different

My journey led me to ingredient deep dives, late-night research, and eventually:
Partnering with a cosmetic formulator and hair scientist with a PhD in Chemistry,
someone who translates complex science into simple frameworks that anyone can use, such as:

  • Science-backed frameworks anyone can follow
  • Symptom → root cause → solution mapping
  • Tools that help you stop guessing
  • Support for every hair type without leaving anyone out

You shouldn’t need a cosmetology degree to have healthy hair. You just need a road map.

Where You May Have Seen My Work
